Most of my friends there who married in 1956-1958 also had floor length dresses (hoops and all).

Congratulations to your parents! There are so few of us around that made it to the milestone.

Having said that, there are 15 couples in our small Phoenix area community of 3500 that all celebrated our Golden Anniversary in 2007. We had several parties during the year to celebrate. Why not flaunt it?

Well, I’m not a fashion expert, but I’ll go with “tea length” since it’s a few inches higher than what I know to be “floor length”. I think I like that better – who wants a nervous bride to trip on her gown? By the way, my mother absolutely HATED her dress – and still does. I think it’s pretty. I’ll have to post a full length one. What I like most about the above photo is the height of my Dad’s hair!

I’m just curious, was your mother’s gown floor length or tea length? I know the tea length gowns were very popular in the 50s. My mother in law wore a tea length gown and it’s very distinctive of that decade.
