It shows that you know your steins and aren’t just copying from another blog. I’m not an expert on old steins but I do sell new steins. Most steins sold today are the stonewear varieity and it may surprise you that most of the steins are not purchased by men but by women over 45 with college and kids. I would say that most of these steins are used for decoration and have never had a liquid in them.

It’s great that you were able to find out so much about the history of steins. We have a collection of modern day steins but I never bothered to look up why they had lids. The lithophane is amazing.
