Marie,

I can't believe you guys went to the Series! I have to agree with you on the Fox bias. But, I loved how after it was over the announcers just stopped talking for a while and they just showed the shots of the celebration on the field.

I seem to remember a Four Humors trip to the Vet!

Philadelphia Phillies - 2008 World Series Champions!!!!!!

It wouldn't be a true Philadelphia triumph unless it was accompanied by drama and suspense! However we got here, it's worth every single second of whatever torture we've had to endure. I was glued to my television for every second of the 1980 World Series and screamed my head off when Tug McGraw struck out Willie Wilson to win the Series. I was there at the 1980 parade, having a blast despite the fact that I got separated from my friends for hours. The 1993 World Series was a blur for me, since I had a baby and being able to give my full attention to anything for more than five consecutive minutes was virtually impossible.

For the past three years Bill and I have been season ticket holders, and we were fortunate enough to experience some of the post-season games inside the ball park insead of in front of the TV this year. What an amazing experience that was! We saw Brett Myers have those two "freakish" (as he called them) at-bats in the NLDS, saw Shane Victorino hit the grand slam, and saw Joe Blanton hit his first major league home run. Nothing, of course, was sweeter than watching on TV as Brad Lidge's awesome slider blew right past Eric Hinske to end a twenty-eight year drought.

The only disappointing aspect of the post season was Fox TV's blatant bias against the Phillies. The Dodgers and the Rays were the golden teams, and the Phillies were not expected to win. So, to paraphrase Tug McGraw, "Fox can take this championship and shove it, 'cause WE'RE NUMBER ONE!!!"

Suspended? We've been in suspense for 28 years waiting to win another World Series... It's typical that our weather has to foul things up. If it's not suffocating heat and humidity it is bone-chilling wind and cold. Nasty rain all day today here, and I even saw snow at lunch. In October. I don't know what has me more unhappy...being "suspended" or having ugly cold weather... Stay tuned, folks...it ain't over yet. We just may not be able to see the end until sometime in May when the weather clears up.
