Love your post! My grandparents lived next door to each other, and my great grandparents across the street from each other. I’ve found several examples of this, too, going even further back. I love how you put all this together. Thank you for sharing!

My kin were usually not city folk, so next door could mean a 1/4 mile or 20 miles — but yes we had our share of those marriages. Really an interesting post from the Kelly’s to the Pater/Zawodny’s to the food for thought at the end. Thanks.

I have a few “next door” pairs, and of course lots of “next farm” pairs. And those “secret marriages” are so much fun to ferret out; I believe I have the evidence for the marriage of one of the “eccentric Brinlee brothers” – he was too afraid to tell his parents….

Grandma lived at 491 Metcalf St, Ottawa and Grandpa at 493 so she did marry the boy next door! In my husband’s family there are several instances of couples growing up on the same street or around the corner from each other.
