Donna, I was amazed by this post and became a follower right away. It is material like this that expands genealogy and family history not only into a source for finding ancestors but also for adding fantastic color to their lives. Wonderful!

In 2002, I found a published work about costume in 1800 Trier Germany and the surrounding area. The author of that book used a regional source that must have been very similar to the Bavarian "...Polizei Blatt" which you found on Goggle. It is amazing how much detail is given in the descriptions of scoundrels or their victims - enough for a detailed book on clothing of the time, something I had always wanted to know. Now I'm going to check this Bavarian source to see what I can find. Thank you.

You talk about Guido Wolfler quoting the book of 1903.I tried to acces by google book but it seems to me that it's not digitalized. Can you give me some help? I would like to see the picture you were talking about and toknow some more about Guido because I think he was my ancient.

I'm constantly getting intrigued by unexpected things (and they usually are only peripherally related to my research) I occasionally post them on Sundays--I call them my Sunday Serendipity posts.

Anyway, I can't wait for the rest of the story!
